Today,
our fourth grade class began exploring cells. We learned yesterday in our books
that they are the building cells of life, yet today, Ms. Jasztal borrowed a “Scope
on a Rope” from our Math and Science Lab teacher, Ms. Kiley. The “Scope on a
Rope” is used by plugging it in to a USB port on a laptop computer.
We
used this incredible tool by examining our hair and skin cells as well as
microscopic slides Ms. Jasztal stores in her blue science drawers at the front
of the classroom.

The
boys got really excited when they were using the scope to analyze a variety of
objects, especially the insect specimens from Ms. Kiley’s kit.

Here, one of
the girls in our class examined her fingernail while teammates watched.

Two girls in
our class examined skin cells in the photo above.
