| County Seat of Hernando County For More Than One Hundred Years! | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
|
Did you know that the central point of Florida is located twelve miles north of Brooksville, Florida? Brooksville, Florida is located in Hernando County, which also consists of Spring Hill, Ridge Manor, and Masaryktown. We are located an hour north of Tampa Bay and were selected Florida's Outstanding Rural Community of the Year in 2000. Brooksville has been the county seat of Hernando County for more than one hundred years, and we were originally known as Melendez. Our county name was also once different; we were known as Benton County. Our town was established in 1856 and incorporated in 1880. Mayor- David Pugh
