Welcome to the "Virtual Florida Files", also known as the Florida Map. Click on any of the city names to the left to learn more about the different destinations in Florida. Florida has much to offer, from "America's Oldest City" to the nation's southernmost point.

Jacksonville, Florida's Largest City
Nestled on the St. John's River and located approximately forty-five minutes north of "America's Oldest City", Jacksonville, Florida has quite a premier location. Jacksonville is not only popular for what it has to offer; it was also where the 2005 Super Bowl was played (in Alltel Stadium in the heart of downtown). Several people come to Jacksonville to visit the Jacksonville Historical Center and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Some attractions for kids include the zoo and "MOSH"- the Museum of Science and History. The Jacksonville Landing is located along the St. Johns River, providing locals and visitors with an outstanding selection of dining, shopping, and entertainment opportunities.

Jacksonville also has its historical roots. Once known as the city of Cow Ford, it was explored by the Spanish conquistadors. Frenchman John Ribault also came here to build Fort Caroline, which the Spanish later raided. Jacksonville also took place in the Civil War, and its most famous battle took place at Olustee.
