CHILD LABOR... AND YOU
Purpose: Read an article from a magazine in Canada about child labor that takes place on the other side of the world.
NOTE- Since the site is from Canada, labor will be spelled labour, and both spellings are actually correct.
Instructions:
What is child labor? It is when a child is forced to work extremely hard and it may harm his or her health, he or she may make .50 or less for
stitching clothing, and it leaves no time or energy for school or play. Click to read the article here.
JOURNAL ASSIGNMENT::
Click on "Learn About The Issues". You will turn a globe to click on three red dots and learn about three different places.
1. Before you click on the dots, read the paragraph to the right of the globe. How does child labor differ from typical jobs like babysitting or walking dogs?
2. What makes child labor dangerous?
3. On the globe, click on the first red dot. Write down - what place you clicked on, the problem people encounter, and the solution people are working on for that problem. Write in your own words!
4. Click on the second red dot. Write down - what place you clicked on, the problem people encounter, and the solution people are working on for that problem. Write in your own words!
5. Click on the third red dot. Write down - what place you clicked on, the problem people encounter, and the solution people are working on for that problem. Write in your own words!
6. Then click on quiz and try it. It should definitely not be difficult at all! Try your best. Then write down two interesting facts you learned about child labor by taking the quiz.
